Acupuncture can address a wide variety of health conditions for people of any age, maintaining physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Treatment can also help navigate potentially difficult life stages, such as adolescence and menopause.
Welcome to Six Seasons Acupuncture, my name is Pippa Loynes. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and I practice fully insured and licenced acupuncture in Ealing and West London.
The aim of my acupuncture practice is to support patients’ health through the practical modern-day application of thousands of years of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I take the time to carefully listen to and understand your health concerns, enabling me to treat both your symptoms and the root cause. Specialising in the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture, so that treatment focuses on the body and mind as a connected whole.
I became passionate about acupuncture after my own positive experience of this intricate and holistic approach to health and wellbeing. My enthusiasm for Chinese Medicine eventually led me to change career after 25 years working in Human Resources, achieving a first class honours degree in acupuncture at the internationally renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.
Continuous learning is important to me, ensuring my knowledge and skills remain at the forefront of the acupuncture profession for the benefit of my patients.
Acupuncture has been used for over 2,000 years as an effective form of treatment and is supported by an increasingly strong body of research in the Western World testifying to its benefits. In the modern day, acupuncture can be used to treat, prevent and support a wide range of ailments and is recommended by the World Health Organisation for over 100 conditions.
Acupuncture works to invigorate and replenish the body’s own internal healing ability, by tapping into the nervous system to improve the circulation of energy and stimulate natural pain relief. Pippa’s patients include men and women at all stages in life, including adolescents and children, to help address the unique and sometimes challenging transitionary phases such as puberty and menopause. Acupuncture can also help with specific conditions such as:
Headaches and migraines
Fatigue
Mental health (stress, anxiety, depression)
Digestive problems
Infertility (male and female) and IVF support
Gynaecological concerns
Sleep issues
Pain management
The British Acupuncture Council provides extensive research reports and information about the efficacy of acupuncture, explaining how treatment might be effective for you.
Acupuncture uses the painless insertion of fine sterile needles to stimulate the body's own healing properties. The sensation experienced is one of your own energy moving, clearing blocks and creating free flow throughout your body. Patients often describe a tingling feeling, using words such as a 'lightness', 'energised' and 'calm' after treatment.
Treatment focuses on the root of your symptoms. The practice of acupuncture works to boost your body’s own natural ability to recalibrate, replenish and repair. Acupuncture treatment aims to support you to maintain your unique health and wellbeing goals.
Pippa will apply a combination of the most appropriate treatments to work alongside acupuncture to benefit you, including techniques steeped in extensively used tradition, such as Cupping, Gua Sha and Moxa.
Suction cups are applied to areas of the body to manipulate movement of energy and promote healing. Cups are applied to acupuncture points or areas of tension often on the back, neck and shoulders and can be moved across tight muscles to relieve any tension and pain.
This treatment is a form of traditional Chinese massage with the ability to reach deep inside the body, again to promote healing and provide relief. Nourishing oil is applied to the skin and a specialist tool is moved across an area, usually the back and shoulders.
Moxa is a medicinal herb that is burnt to provide warmth and healing to either acupoints or along channels in the body’s system to promote healing. On occasion, specialist heat lamps can be used to provide the same treatment.
Using an integrated approach to her treatments, Pippa works on the basis that the connection between our minds and bodies is the most fundamental axis on which our health turns. Imbalances or disharmony in the body or mind can give rise to changes in our emotional state, sense of self, energy and our wellbeing.
It’s important to Pippa that her patients feel understood and at ease. She is incredibly thorough with her diagnosis and treatment, applying a blend of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Elements practices to get to the root of your concerns and harmonise your core.
Your first session will last between 1.5 – 2 hours, incorporating an acupuncture treatment. A full personal and medical history is taken to support an effective diagnosis and bespoke treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Pippa works with you to maintain your health goals and decide what duration and frequency of treatment may be appropriate. A treatment plan normally runs from between 4-6 treatments but this will vary depending on the issues you wish to address.
